Winter lights

A cozy gouache course for painting snow, light, and calm winter landscapes

Winter can feel intimidating to paint.

Everything looks white, nothing feels simple, and suddenly your gouache feels harder than it should.

Winter Light is here to change that. This is a gentle, beginner-friendly collection of six real-time gouache tutorials where we slow down, simplify winter landscapes, and focus on what really matters: light, snow, and confidence.

No rushing.
No shortcuts.
Just calm, step-by-step painting that helps you understand what you’re doing and why. If you’ve already painted with gouache a little and want to feel more confident with winter scenes, you’re in the right place.

What’s inside Winter Light

You get six complete gouache tutorials, all painted in real time, all step by step, and all focused on winter landscapes and atmosphere.

 • Two detailed house scenes with snowy surroundings, guided carefully from start to finish
• Landscapes with rolling snow, trees, distance, and soft winter light
• Two live painting sessions where you paint along and see every decision unfold naturally
• One brand new winter painting that hasn’t been shared anywhere else yet.

What you see is what you paint. Each tutorial leads to a finished piece, without skipping steps or rushing through the process.

This is not about perfection. It’s about understanding snow, light, and how to make winter feel believable and calm on paper.

Who this course is for

This course is beginner-friendly, not for absolute beginners.
You don’t need to be an expert, but you should have painted with gouache at least a little before. I don’t explain the very basics like how to hold a brush or what gouache is.

If that sounds like you, this course will feel supportive, clear, and very doable.

You’ll especially love this if you:

• Feel unsure about painting snow without everything turning flat or muddy
• Want your winter landscapes to feel lighter and more spacious
• Enjoy real-time painting and seeing the full process
• Want clear guidance without pressure or overcomplication

What you’ll learn

By the end of Winter Light, you will:

• Feel more confident painting snow in different lights and situations
• Understand how to use subtle color shifts instead of pure white
• Know how to suggest depth and distance in winter landscapes
• Feel calmer and more relaxed when approaching winter scenes
• Trust yourself more with gouache.

This is about building confidence and comfort, not memorizing rules. There’s always another way to make it work.

You don’t need anything special.  Use the gouache you already have. A simple palette is more than enough: • White • Lemon yellow • Magenta • Cobalt blue or cyan blue • Payne’s gray • Burnt umber.

Any paper you like is fine. Synthetic brushes work perfectly. One flat brush and one small round brush will cover everything in the course.

Art should bring joy, not stress.
