What You’ll Need
You don’t need fancy tools or a stocked art studio.
To take this course, all you need is:
•A few sheets of regular copy paper
•Acrylic paint (just a few colors to get started)
•A couple of brushes
•A pair of scissors
•Gel medium or glue stick
•A sketchbook (optional—but it’s where I’ve done all my projects)
That’s it! Most of these are probably already in your home. If not, they’re inexpensive and easy to find. You’ll be ready to create in no time.

The tutorials are filmed in real-time, and I explain everything as I go. It’s not a voice-over added later—it’s my actual process, step by step, as I’m creating the artwork. I’ve trimmed out a few repetitive parts to keep it flowing, but you still get the full process—meat and bones! You’ll see exactly how I work, and you can follow along at your own pace.

These ten lessons are a sort of sampler of the techniques of applying surfaces to create an image. Tearing the paper directly connected me to the piece and to the shapes that are shadows and highlights in a way that was transformative. Really! Finishing the last one and thumbing through the little sketchbook was so satisfying. I just couldn't have enjoyed this exploration more and I'm really proud of the work I did. . Thanks, Cecile!!
